Young-oak, a second-year high school student, wants to change his name to Min-jong after being mocked by his classmates. He is ashamed that his mother, Jeong-sun—the one who gave the name Young-oak—is nearing sixty, and that she sometimes loses consciousness without warning. Jeong-sun has no memory of anything that happened before the age of eight. On days when the wind blows and the sunlight is dazzlingly bright, she suffers dissociative episodes that lead to seizures. As the new school term begins, Young-oak becomes class president under the influence of Kyung-tae, a feared transfer student known as the school’s toughest fighter. But he grows distant from his longtime best friend Min-soo and becomes entangled in power struggles and collective violence instigated by Kyung-tae. Meanwhile, Jeong-sun decides to seek treatment. Told by a doctor that her mind has deliberately repressed a horrific past, she is terrified of whether she can endure the truth. Yet, little by little, she begins to summon the long-lost day buried deep within her memory…”
